Though considerably cruel and more manipulative, he has a few moments of humanity and treats people like Amamiya Shisui very well. Furthermore, he cares a lot about his half-sister Tokiko, his one true confidant, and looses his "cool" should something happened to her. Kotaro isn't all evil and does have serious concern for the people close to him. He leaves his sex slaves with autonomy, as long as they serve him and will be protective of them, risking his life for them if needed. Kotaro however, will treat people that willingly join his side with alot of respect. Though he uses some of them as sexual release aids, for the most part his interested is their use on the battlefield, and will not break their personality completely. He uses hell tech, sex and his own abilities to break women into his servitude. In order to rival the military force of others, he regularly kidnaps enemy commander from encounters or when the opportunity arises. Wanting to rebuild his clan as the ruling party, over all other groups like the Taimanin, demons or UFS, he aims to be independent. In multiple continuities he is also interested in Video Games. However, when talking about his father, he tends to lose his composure quickly and can become very rude. Even when insulted, he does not lose his composure and remains mature in a situation. He shows lust and sexual attraction to his Taimanin coworkers but is able to control it if needed. Kotaro is proactive of his friends or assests and tries to better himself constantly. Towards Tokiko he also can get meek if he knows, that he upset her. Feeling somewhat concerned about his family's history and left alone, he hates his father Fuuma Danjo but deeply cares for his sister Tokiko. Kotaro has a desire to prove himself and has a high degree of trust for his allies. Kotaro is able to think on the fly and on some level is an everyman to everybodies insanity. Shifting between being easygoing and lazy to serious on some missions. True for all three continuities is: that he is a very smart, analytical, scheming and a long-term thinking individual. Kotaro's character traits differs depending on continuity.
